I pre ordered this book as I was excited about it, I have read the entire series so far. This book is a short read, that does not bother me as much as I was hoping for a better connection between Nen and Gwen. So her pod lands in the Om territory and Nen is a bird of prey, he captured her for food, and discovers she is a female and has awakens him and transitions him into man form, and eventually discovers she possesses Ila--Goddess of Wind and Desire. She is the key to awakening female Om fertility so the tribe can have offspring again. The author is very clever in integrating different goddesses to possess their womankind into the tribes that have either lost fertility or have no women at all.I did not care for the abusive nature of Nen when it came to sex. After the first encounter he tells her she made a mess and told her to lick it off him. Gross. He has his own personal hot spring bath in his room, I would have pushed him in, but she was so eager to oblige. They slap each other during her sex "heat" and chocking and he was in control of her "pleasure" , spanking and pulling hair. He was very possessive, and not overly kind, reminding her when a "thank you alpha" was in order. If she is an all powerful goddess he needed to be taken down a few pegs.Finally Nen is just a brooding alpha, always jealous of the gifts that are given to her for the gift of fertility she has bestowed on his tribe. He is also jealous of her wanting to mingle with is tribe and scares everyone off. Never did he once tell her he loved her or she him. He is not very likable, just possessive and controlling. Not really a great love story or connection between the two. It just left me feeling like she settled and that they really were not fated mates and didn't have a strong bond at all. I feel like a section was missing ing the beginning! He leaves the nest then all off a sudden they are having the knot party!!?? He was a jerk this whole book...and she just was like oh well...i'd rather him be a happy predator....WHaT??!!?...This was not a romance to me..it felt like Stockholm syndrome... Also unlike in the other books it seems that Gwen really has turned into a goddess....but then she seems like her human self. This was very confusing! I'm glad this book was short cause i hated it. I really liked all the other books so far. But this one not so much.
