DON'T KISS THE BRIDE is one of those books that is the main reason “I Love to Read Books!” This story was able to keep me reading way into the night. Let me start by telling you about Jude “Lucky” Lucketti. He is a hero that doesn't realize his own worth. The heroine is an 18-year-old down on her luck. Her name is Skylar Timmons and her life has been nothing but hard knocks. These two unlikely characters meet in a school parking lot, just across from where Lucky is working on a job to renovate an old house. Skylar is a senior whose “75” Corvette won't start in the school parking lot. That is when Lucky came to her rescue for the first time out of what would turn out to be many. This is an age-gap story, too.Skylar was drawn to older things. They have character and gave her a sort of comfort. They've been forgotten and tossed aside. She just wanted to love them and Lucky felt like he was one of those forgotten things. When Skylar passes out in the school parking lot, once again Lucky is there for her. She has an eating disorder, acid reflex, ulcers, some other problems, and mentally, too. Instead of running he stays right there with her. Her worst problem is Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder. She has no one. Her mother is a mental case who is also a hoarder, that avoids her daughter. Her father left and abandoned her. She is one big hot mess!Lucky doesn't know what to do. This beautiful and messed up young lady needs help. So he plots a plan where they will be in a fake marriage. She can leave the unsafe environment that she lives in, and come live with him. Then she will be safe. It will be a marriage on paper and nothing else. He could put her on his insurance so she could get the medical help she so needed. I CAN SAY THE SAME FOR CHARACTERS WITH MENTAL DISORDERS. THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW I'VE ENJOYED BUT NOT MANY. I HAD ZERO CONNECTION TO SKYLAR. JUDE WAS CERTAINLY NOT BOOK BOYFRIEND MATERIAL. I HAD DIFFICULTY WITH HIS ATTRACTION TO THIS IMMATURE OVERLY DRAMATIC DISTURBED 18 YO. I DID NOT FIND ANYTHING ENGAGING WITH THE CHARACTERS IN THIS STORY. I FOUND THE STORY BORING AND LONG. I DID NOT FEEL THE ROMANCE OR THE PASSION WHICH I NEED IN THIS TYPE OF BOOK.
